Should We Pray for Righteous Leaders?

America does not deserve a God-fearing government. These verses motivate me to pray in spite of our unworthiness. May Jesus be glorified (revealed) by the leaders we elect in November!
  • And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. Jeremiah 29:10

  • I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

  • When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Proverbs 29:2

  • Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:28
